ALBERT W. FERGUSON

FERGUSON Al W. Ferguson, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Lee Ferguson of the home; daughter, Brenda Robinett of ABQ; sons, Steven Lloyd Ferguson of Rio Rancho and James Lee Ferguson of ABQ; three grandchildren, Barbara Yancy of ABQ, Thomas Lloyd Ferguson and Benjamin Ferguson of Rio Rancho; brother, Nolan Lloyd Ferguson of Norman, OK. Mr. Ferguson retired from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. He was a WWII and Korean veteran. Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd., NE with H.A. Honeycutt officiating. Pallbearers will be Ron Robinett, Greg Robinett, Steven Ferguson, James Ferguson, Tom Mayfield, and Jerry Mayfield. Interment will take place following the service at 3:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel on Friday from 8.00 a.m. to noon..

Albert registered for the draft in Purcell, OK on 11 December 1942 and was inducted into the Army on 16 April 1943.

On 26 October 1943, Pvt Ferguson was transferred to Company F, 508th PIR.

Pvt Ferguson was wounded in action on 8 June 1944 and evacuated to the 94th General Hospital in England.  He returned to duty on 12 August 1944.

On 11 January 1945 Pvt Ferguson was evacuated as a non-combat casualty.  He returned to duty on 6 March 1945.

He re-enlisted for a period of three years on 10 November 1945 and transferred to the newly formed Air Force after it was activated on 18 September 1947.

He retired as a TSgt with some 22 years of service on 30 April 1965.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the Normandy assault,

On 31 December 1946, Albert married Ethel Lee Tippit in Purcell, OK
