Grave marker for Edward Fields in the Short Cemetery, Short (Shelby county), Texas.

Edward enlisted in the Army at Houston, TX on 5 October 1942 and was assigned to Company SA, 508th PIR.

Pfc Fields jumped into Normandy on 6 June 1944 and was captured that same day.  He was released from Stalag 4F in 1945.

He remained in the service and switched to the newly formed U.S. Air Force in 1947 were he attained the rank of TSgt.  He served in both Korea and Vietnam..
