HENRY I. FIELDS

 

Henry registered for the draft in Huntsville. AL on 20 June 1942. 

Following his induction he volunteered for parachutist duty and was assigned to Company C, 608th PIT

Pvt Fields was appointed to Pfc on 1 November 1943 and sewed on another striped when he as appointed as Corporal on 18 April 1944.

Cpl Fields was reported missing in action as of 6 June 1944.

It was later determined that he had become a prisoner of war.

He was liberated from Stalag 7B after the war ended.

On 29 November 1934, Sgt Fields re-enlisted at Fort Benning, GA.

Henry passed away on 18 December 2010 in Columbus, FA.  He was buried in the Fort Benning Post Cemetery, Fort Benning (Muscogee county), Georgia.
