FILES --- Of Somerville. June 12. 1992, Joseph W. Beloved husband of Laura F. (Young) Files; father of Patricia; brother of Mildred Mooreside and Vena Lean. Memorial Mass In St. Benedict's Church, Somerville, Friday, June 19th at 9 a.m. Interment VA National Cemetery, Bourne. Past Commander American Legion Post, 388, Somerville, 1990-1991. Member of Eagles of Weymouth for over 25 years.

Joseph registered for the draft in South Boston, MA.  this image set reflects an update, or initial creation, following his discharge.

He was inducted into the Army at Cambridge, MA on 17 January 1941,

On 28 October 1942, Pvt Files was attached to Hq 1st for rations and quarters and sometime thereafter became a permanent member of the company..

Pvt Files was transferred to the 541st PIR also located at Camp Mackall, NC.

He was discharged on 10 January 1945 and his draft record (above) ws updated a week later.
