Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus
Application for Anthony J. Fiorentino.
Anthony enlisted in the Army at New
Cumberland, PA on 28 March 1942. His first two years of military
service is unknown. On 31 March 1944
Pfc Fiorentino was transferred from Hq FFRD #8 to Hq Hq, 508th PIR.
He was then he was listed as seriously wounded in action in
Holland on 12 October 1944. Pfc
Fiorentino was able to return to the company on 6 November 1944. As was
typical, he was then transferred to Service Company until declared fit for
combat duty. He returned on Hq Hq on 13 December 1944.
On 31 May 1945 Pvt Fiorentino was transferred to the 13th
Airborne Division. He was discharged on 23 November 1945.
Anthony's military decorations include the Purple Heart and
the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the
Normandy assault. |
