JACK E. FISHER

Grave marker for Jack E. Fisher in Milford Cemetery, Milford (Pike county), Pennsylvania.

 

Jack registered for the draft in Lewisburg, PA on 16 February 1942 and was inducted into the Army  at Harrisburg; PA on 25 November 1942.

On 17 December 1942, Pvt Fisher was transferred from Camp Toccoa, GA to Hq 3rd,  508TH PIR.

Jack was promoted to Corporal on 28 January 1943 and to Sergeant on 21 July 1944.

SSgt Fisher was discharged on 28 December 1945.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the Normandy assault

 

Jack submitted this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus on 16 January 1950.  Her was credited with 13 months of domestic duty and 24 months of foreign service which entitled him to a $490 bonus, just $10 shy of the maximum allowable.
