[Milwaukee Journal, Milwaukee WI, July 27, 1960]

Fizzard, G. Nelson, 74, born June 27, 1932 in Pontiac, Michigan died suddenly yet peacefully May 18, 2007 in Phoenix, AZ.
. Nelson joined the armed forces and served as a paratrooper in the Korean War where he was injured and awarded a purple heart. After the war, he graduated from Michigan Tech with a B.S. in Civil Engineering followed by a law degree from the University of Wisconsin.
"Nelse" moved to So. Cal in 1966 and worked as a Civil Engineer and head of Risk Management for the County of Orange for 24 years after which he retired and moved to Phoenix.
He continued to work as an expert witness but found it interfered too much with camping, going to the gym, gourmet cooking, a couple of 'nips' by the pool, fixing all things with duct tape and especially spending time with his grandsons Logan and Colton.
Nelse will always be remembered for his infamous pool parties complete with great food, cheap vodka and even cheaper jokes. The loss of his presence is filled only by the colorful memories he left with us.
Nelson is survived by his daughters, Melinda (Mark) Wilhelm and Stephanie (Chris) Bell; grandsons, Logan (2) and Colton (8 mo.); 3 siblings; 1st wife, Carol; 2nd wife, Cindy and many, many friends.
We will miss you everyday of our lives, Dad. Thanks for everything. Cheers to you!
