GEORGE P. FORAN

Grave marker for George P. Foran in Saint Johns Cemetery, Bellevue (Sarpy county) Nebraska.

George enlisted in the Army at Harrisburg, PA on 1 December 1942 and was assigned to Hq 3rd, 508 PIR.

Pvt Foran was declared as a qualified parachutist on 12 March 1943.

On 24 October 1943 Pvt Foran was either injured or taken ill during the Tennessee Maneuvers and sent to the Station Hospital at Camp Forrest, TN.  He was subsequently transferred to that hospital's Detachment of Patients and did not return to the 508th.

George remained in the service and transferred to the Air Fore after it was formed in September 1947.  He saw service in the Korean Conflict as well as in Vietnam and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant (E8).
