NOLAN FOSTER

(courtesy of "MoonFlower")

Grave marker for Nolan Foster in Alston Cemetery, Ragley (Beauregard Parish), Louisiana.

Nolan enlisted in the Army at Lafayette, LA on 10 Oct 1943.  He volunteered for parachutist duty and was assigned to Company E, 508th PIR at Camp Blanding, FL.

Records are incomplete but Nolan was probably wounded in Normandy.  This is borne out by the notation on his grave marker that he received the Purple Heart..

More specifically, Pvt Foster was reported as MIA on 14 June 1944.  It is unclear when he was hospitalized but he was subsequently evacuated to an unnamed hospital in the U.S. on 27 Sep 1944.  He did not return to the regiment.
