Everett enlisted in the Army at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, GA on 8 July 1943.

Pvt Furr was transferred from the 509th PIR to Service Company, 508th PIR on 28 February 1945. 

On 16 April 1945 he was transferred from an unknown hospital, classed as a non-battle casualty, to the Detachment of Patients at that hospital.  He did not return to the regiment.
