ROBERT J. FURTAW

[courtesy of "RAP"]

Grave marker for Robert J. Furtaw in the Chapel Gardens Cemetery, Elwell (Gratiot county), Michigan.

Robert enlisted in the Army on 21 April 1943.

Pvt Furtaw was seriously injured in action as of 6 June 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital.  On 27 September 1944 he was transferred to the hospital's Detachment of Patients and did not return to the regiment.

His grave marker indicates that he may have been wounded twice, perhaps he was transferred to another unit after his hospitalization.  He was discharged on 24 January 1946.
