ROBERT A. GASTGEB

 

Robert enlisted in the Army at Pittsburgh, PA on 13 May 1941 and was discharged on 21 May 1945.  On 21 April 1950 he made application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Compensation bonus.  The details include overseas service beginning 28 December 1944 when the 508th PIR left NY City harbor bound for Ireland.

On 26 February 1944 Pvt Gastgeb was placed on detached service with Hq Co 2nd Airborne Brigade.  He was permanently transferred to that unit on 10 April 1944.

Robert was discharged on 21 October 1945 at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, PA.

Grave marker for Robert A. Gastgeb in Section 2 of the Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville (Allegheny county), Pennsylvania.
