Pvt Walter R. Gatewood
enlisted in the Army sometime prior to his transfer from the 3rd
Replacement Depot to Company D, 508th PIR on 13 February 1945.
He was promoted to Pfc on
20 March 1945.
 Pfc
Gatewood departed Antwerp, Belgium on 25 November 1945 and arrived in
New York City's Harbor aboard the USS Stetson Victory, Shipment Number
E-27754, Tl;-23 Destination Reception Station 23, Fort Monmouth, NJ
where he would be processed for discharge.
His military decorations
include the Combat Infantryman Badge awarded for action during the
campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945. |
