JOHN G. GERARD

(courtesy of "bigbears6")

Grave marker for John G. Gerard in the Epiphany Catholic Cemetery, Coon Rapids (Anoka), Minnesota.

John was a member of Company F and had been sent to a radar school after the regiment arrived in England. He participated in the jump into Normandy on D-Day, 6 June 1944 and then into Holland on 7 September 1944.

It appears that he may have sustained an injury in the second jump and was transferred to the Parachute School, Ft Benning, GA on 21 Nov 44 for medical treatment.

Pfc Gerard was later awarded the Bronze Star Medal, presumably for his actions in Holland.
