Grave marker for Harry and Stancel Gerheim in the Holy
Cross Cemetery, Brookpark (Cuyahoga county), Ohio.
Harry enlisted in the Army at Pittsburgh, PA on 23 May
1942. As a parachutist volunteer he was initially assigned to the
507th PIR. Following completion of parachute training Pvt Gerheim
was one of many men transferred from the 507th to the fledgling 508th as
a cadre team.
Sgt Gerheim was wounded in action on 18 June 44 and
awarded the Purple Heart. He also received the Bronze Service
Arrowhead device for hois participation in Normandy assault, |
