Herman W. Geyman, 89, of Madison, died
Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Madison, to Allie V. and Agnes Martha
Jacobs Geyman. He resided in the Madison area most of his life and
enjoyed the Madison Regatta.
He served in the Army from July 22, 1944 to April 25, 1946, serving
during World War II with the rank of Private First Class. He received
the Good Conduct Medal and several other ribbons and medals. He worked
as a mechanic all of his life and had worked with his brother, Paul, at
his service station in downtown Madison. He was a member of the Prince
of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by one sister, Alice G. Stephan Morris Juengel of
Canaan; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozena Edwards Geyman, who
died Oct. 17, 2007; his parents; four brothers, Paul Geyman, George
Geyman, Walter Geyman and Raymond J. Geyman; and four sisters, Pauline
Geyman, Jane Lee, Martha Brawner and Dorothy Johann.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Indiana Veterans
Memorial Cemetery Chapel. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans
Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel Friday from 12:45 p.m. until the
service. Military honors will be conducted in the Chapel Friday by
Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.

Mr. Herman W. Geyman, age 89, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on October 2, 1924 in Madison, Indiana. He was the son of the late, Allie V. and Agnes Martha Jacobs Geyman. He resided in the Madison area most of his life and enjoyed the Madison Regatta.
Herman was inducted into the United States Army on July 22, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana during World War II. He was honorably discharged on April 25, 1946 in Frankfurt, Germany with the rank of Private First Class having served in the 508 PIR Medical Detachment receiving the Bronze Service Star Central Europe, EAME Theater Ribbon, European Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He worked as a mechanic all of his life and had worked with his brother, Paul at his service station in downtown Madison, Indiana.
Herman was united in marriage to Mozena Edwards and she passed away on October 17, 2007.
He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Herman died on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at 5:10 a.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 3, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. by Father Christopher A. Craig at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends and family may gather at 12:45 p.m. on Friday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
Full military honors will be conducted on Friday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Chapel by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.

Herman registered for the
draft in Madison, IN on 18 Dece3mber 1942 and was inducted into the Army
on 22 July 1944.
Pfc Geyman was transferred from the 505th PIR to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR on
9 October 1945.
He was discharged on 25 April 1946
but it was not until 17 November 1946 that he arrived in New York, NY
from Bremerhaven, Germany aboard the USAT Admiral Hugh M Rodman (see
line 4.) Despite being aboard a military transport his status is
unclear. |
