A. William Giegold NORTH MANCHESTER

Services for A. William Giegold, 82, of 555 W Washington St, Camden, formerly of North Manchester, will be held at 130 pm Sunday in DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel.
     He died at 2:50 pm Thursday, Dec 27, 2001, at his residence.
     Born Sept 21, 1919, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Albert G. and Mildred L Anderson Giegold. He was married on Aug. 24,1941, to Alberta J. Martin, who survives.
     Mr. Giegold was retired from GTE, where he was employed for 25 years.
    A 1937 graduate of Central High School in Fort Wayne, he served in the military during World War II.
     He was a member of American Legion Post 286 in North Manchester and the 82nd Airborne Division Association. He also served as past president of F Company Association.
     Mr. Giegold was a former member of the Izaac Walton League in Liberty Mills and formerly served on the Chester Township Volunteer Fire Department.
     He was a founding member of Wabash Valley Racing Pigeons Club and belonged to the 508 PIR Association and the Hall of Fame of the American Racing Pigeons Union.
     He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman.
     Also surviving are one son and daughter in- law, Andy and Paula Giegold, Garrett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Tom Hedde, Camden, and Teena and Richard Markins, Valparaiso; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The Rev. JP Freeman and pastor Ken Smith will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
     Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital and Salvation Army.
