CLYDE GRANT

Clyde Grant, 90 of Chattanooga, Tenn. died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. He was the son of the late Foster and Rebecca Hughes Grant. Clyde was the founder and co-owner of Clyde's Auto Glass and attended Brainerd United Methodist Church. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving as a Jump Master with the 508th Parachute Infantry and member of the American Legion. Clyde was an avid golfer and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Alnita Grant; son, Don (Jo) Grant, Lookout Mountain, GA; daughter, Joyce Payne, Atlanta, GA; sister, Roxie Jones, Ringgold, GA; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM

Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and Rev. Genevieve DeHoog will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road, Chattanooga 37411.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Memorials: Memorial contributions be made to Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road, Chattanooga 37411.

Visitations: 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory - Chattanooga

Services: 12:30PM at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Friday, November 20th, 2009

Clyde enlisted in the Army at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, GA on 9 July 1941. 

TSgt Grant was transferred on 7 July 1944 to Service Company, 508th PIR from Hq 82nd Airborne Division, Leicester, England..
