Grave marker for Angelo P. Greco in the Apex Cemetery, Apex (Wake County) North Carolina.

Following basic training he was selected to be a medic.  After graduation from Medic school in Texas he was posted to the 1560th SU, POW Camp in Atterbury, IN where he served as a medical-interpreter for Italian POWs.  A few months later he volunteered for paratrooper duty and following completion of jump school he was sent to the 508th PIR. .

Angelo had been a professional saxophonist prior to the war and was a natural addition for the 508th band.  He transferred into the group as early as 1943 and remained when the regimental band was reorganized to the 112th Army Ground Forces Band.
