OLIVE W. GRIFFIN

Grave marker for Oliver W. Griffin in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Nashville (Davidson county), Tennessee.

Oliver enlisted in the Army at Ft McPherson, Atlanta, GA on 19 February, 1943 and was assigned to Company H, 508 PIR.

On 18 February 1944 Pvt Griffin was promoted directly to the rank of Sergeant.

On 2 February 1945 Sgt Griffin was listed as slightly injured in action but returned to the company the following day.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device which was awarded for his participation in the Normandy assault. 

Griffin remained in te Army and served during Korean and Vietnam as well.

His retired rank of MSgt was included in a letter written to Jumpmaster in February 2008 and also appears on his grave marker.
