Retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. William Lynn Griffith, of 420 Jamestown Ave., Fayetteville, died Friday, April 30, 2004, in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

William L. Griffith

Retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. William Lynn Griffith, 76, of 420 Jamestown Ave., Fayetteville, died Friday, April 30, 2004, in his home.

Mr. Griffith served in the Army for more than 27 years. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a Shriner and a member of Fort Campbell Masonic Lodge 946.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg by Chaplain Steve Barry. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Griffith is survived by his companion, Ann Clark of the home; two sons, Gary L. Griffith and Glenn L. Griffith, both of Fayetteville; three sisters, Marian Hindman of Irving, Texas, Paula Clyburn of Bartsville, Okla., and Sharon Smith of Sweetwater, Texas; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
