Correction

a story in Tuesday's Morning News incorrectly said that George O. Gross. who collapsed and died during Wilmington's labor Day parade, had a history of heart trouble.
His widows says the man had no such trouble.  The erroneous information came from the Wilmington Medical Center.

Pfc Gross was wounded in action in France on 24 June and again on 15 July 1944.  This National Jewish Welfare Board record reflects the fact that his name was included on a War Department release dated 10 September 1944 although it does not state which event was reported.  The family, of course, had been notified of both instances much earlier.

Pfc Gross was discharged on 13 October 1945.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster as well s he Combat Infantryman Badge and Bronze Service Arrowhead device, both awarded for participation in Normandy assault.

He is buried in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Woodlawn (Cecil county, Maryland.
