Grave marker of Frank Haddy in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City (Cerro Gordo county), Iowa.

Frank enlisted at Camp Dodge in Herrold, Iowa on 5 March 1943.  After completion of basic training and jump school he was assigned to Company D, 508th.

Pvt Haddy jumped into Normandy on D-Day and was wounded in Action on 3 July 1944 and spent four weeks recuperating in a military hospital.

He military awards include the Silver Star and Bronze Star medals as well as the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service arrowhead awarded for participation in Normandy assault.
