ERNEST J. HAGER

Grave marker for Ernest J. Hager in Section 48, Site: 1860, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington (Arlington county), Virginia.

Ernest enlisted in the Army at Cleveland, OH on 1 February 1941 and was give a commission shortly afterward. on 1 October 1942, 2nds Lt Hager was transferred from army Ground Forces Command to Company C, 508th PIR.

On 23 January 1943, he was promoted to 1st Lt. 

1st Lt Hager relieved from his assignment as Executive Officer and assigned to Hq & Hq Co as Assistant Regimental S-3 on 10 April 1944.

Lt Hager was wounded in action in Normandy on D-Day.  By 10 December 1944 he had returned to duty ad was transferred back to Co C as the Executive Officer.

He remained in service and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Ernest died in Germany but no additional details are available.
