EDWARD M. HAMES

DR. EDWARD MARVIN HAMES JR.
   Dr. Edward Marvin Hames, Jr. of Lilburn, died peacefully on August 6, 2005 at the age of 72, following a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
   Dr. Hames is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Juanice Brock Hames, his sister Madru Hames Driskell of Snellville, numerous nieces and nephews, and loving extended family.
   Dr. Hames, a native-born Georgian and graduate of Decatur Boys High, attended Atlanta and Decatur City Schools.
   His active military service was as a paratrooper with the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War.
   Following his service in the U.S. Army, Dr. Hames attended Georgia State University, where he majored in Business Administration and Life Chiropractic College, where, upon graduation, he taught Spinal Anatomy and Adjusting Technique courses.
   Dr. Hames has maintained a chiropractic practice in Lilburn since 1978, and was actively involved with the Gwinnett County Republican Party, organizing fund raisers for Rep. John Linder and assisting with fund raisers for several other successful Republican candidates.
   Professional affiliations include the Georgia Chiropractic Association where he served on numerous committees and was a member of its Board of Directors from 1982-1995. Additionally, Dr. Hames served as an Examiner with the National Board of Chiropratic Examiners for the past ten years.
   Dr. Hames believed that integrity and ethical conduct should prevail, both individually and collectively in any profession. He worked toward that end for the almost 30 years that he was a part of the Chiropractic profession.
   Dr. Hames and his wife Juanice, were long time members of Roswell Street Baptist Church and are presently active members of Cross Pointe Church in Duluth.
   Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
   Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with Dr. James Merritt officiating. Interment will be at East View Cemetery in Conyers.
   The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel (770)564-2726
