DONALD W. HANSEN

Donald Hansen

 CAMANCHE, Iowa --- Services for Donald W. Hansen, 57, of Camanche, will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Snell-Zornig Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
   Visitation is after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
   Mr. Hansen died Sunday at Jane Lamb Hospital after an extended illness. He was a welder for 30 years at E.I. duPont & Co., Clinton.
   Donald W. Hansen married Pearl Duncan in 1943 in Clinton. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.
   Survivors Include his wife; daughter, Mrs. John (Carta) McCaughan, Pittsville, Pa.; a son, Paul C, Clinton; six grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Frank (Nellie) Hackett, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Eckland, and Mrs. Dorothy Jost, all of Clinton, and brothers, Roy and Paul C, both of Clinton.

Included on the photo is a copy of an captioned photo of the Service Company Riggers which we under the command of CWO Roy Barger.

T/5 Hansen was a member of Service Company and was awarded the Purple Heart for a wound suffered on 18 June 1944 in Normandy, France.  He was also awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for participation in the Normandy assault.

 

On 21 July 1949, Donald submitted this application for the Iowa WWII Veterans Bonus.  He was credit with 44 months of domestic duty and 22 months of foreign service netting him a $495 bonus award.
