FLOYD G. HART

Grave marker of Floyd G. Hart in Plot: 42, 1798 of the Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton (Suffolk County), New York.

Floyd enlisted in the Army on February 9, 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.  He was assigned to the 507th PIR where he trained and qualified as a parachutist.  On October 16, 1942, Floyd was one of the men transferred from the 507th to the fledgling 508th PIR which was then forming at Camp Blanding.

He was assigned to Company A and in the next year was promoted to Pfc and then SSgt. On August 19, 1943 he was transferred in grade to the 541st PIR, Ft Benning, GA. Floyd did not return to the 508th.
