Hart in the Evergreen Cemetery, Okeechobee (Okeechobee), Florida.
Wayne enlisted in the Army on November 12, 1942 and two weeks later was
assigned to the 508th Band at Camp Blanding, FL.
He was also a qualified
parachutist and participated in the jump into Normandy on D-Day, June 6,
1944 for which he was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device.
SSgt Hart, then in Company
C, may have fought in the Holland Campaign as well but was definitely in
the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded in action on January 23,
1945 in Belgium and was warded the Purple Heart.
