ORVILLE HATLEY

Orville Hatley, 83, of Spring Valley died Feb. 22. He was born in Gorham, Ill., and was a shop mechanic for San Diego Gas & Electric.
He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors include his sons, Stanley Hatley of St. Louis and Joseph Hatley of Spring Valley; and four grandchildren.
Rosary: 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 8086 Broadway, Lemon Grove.
Mass: 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Interment: Jefferson Barrack National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis.
Arrangements: Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary.

Orville enlisted in the
Army at Chicago, IL on 31 October 1942 and volunteered for parachutist
duty.
Pfc Hatley was temporarily
transferred to the 508th for the period of 13 September 1943 through 6
November as a driver for the Fire Warning Team during the Tennessee

After
returning to his primary organization, Pfc Hatley saw combat in the ETO
and was wounded there on 27 April 1945.
