BOBBY L HAUN

Bobby L. Haun, 83, of Hamburg died May 20, 2014 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Bob was born on Oct. 4, 1930 in Hamburg to Samuel Cair well and Olive Agnes (Baker) Haun.
   Bob married Betty Stanton on Oct. 6, 1962 in Tarkio, Mo. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1948. He worked on the family farm until 1951 when he joined the United States Army. He served with the 508th Airborne Regiment Combat Team until his honorable discharge in January of 1954, after which he worked on the farm and did construction, for Ross Simerly at the Western Auto Store, then as a heavy equipment operator for the Fremont County Road Department.
   Bob joined the Hamburg Fire Department in 1962. He was a charter member of the Hamburg Rescue Squad, established in 1971, and served as captain for 12 years. He could always be counted on for help with projects in the Hamburg community.
   He is survived by granddaughters Shaunna Stanton of Bryan, Texas, and Toni Ellison and husband Jody of Rock Port, Mo.; great grandchildren Elyssa Burke and husband Kavin of Duncan, Okla., Drew Ellison of Rock Port, and Taylor Stanton of Hamburg; sister Helen Cook and husband Mearl of Clay Center, Kan.; sister-in-law Shirley Haun of Keller, Texas; special friend Delores Richie of St. Joseph, Mo.; other family and many friends.
   He was preceded by wife Betty Haun on Sept. 4, 2004; daughter Kathy Sitz on Jan. 10, 2005; brothers Billy E. Haun and Samuel "Red" Haun.
   Funeral services were May 23 at the United Trinity Church in Hamburg with Pastor Dan Voigt officiating. Burial was at High Creek Cemetery in Watson. Memorials may be given to the Hamburg City Park War Memorial, Hamburg Fire or Hamburg Rescue. Remembrances may be left at www.gudefuneralhomes.com. Rash-Gude Funeral Home, Hamburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
