Grave marker of Pfc Levy A. Havard in the Ryan Cemetery in Cleveland (Liberty County), Texas

Levy joined the Army on 16 January 1942 in Houston, TX and volunteered for parachutist duty.  After he completed basic training and jump school her was assigned to the 507th PIR.

On 16 October 1942 he was one of many Cadre members who were transferred into the 508th to start the newly formed regiment.
