GERALD R. HAVERKOST

Gerald "Jud" Haverkost, 79, Elinor Drive, died at 7:56 p.m. Aug. 1, 2015, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West with John Strode officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow.

A native of Hibbing, Minn., he was born Sept. 24, 1935, the son of the late Theodore Haverkost and Agnes Olin Haverkost Johnson.

He retired as a First Sgt. with the U.S. Army, serving in both the Korean and Vietnamese Wars. He was a life member of VFW Post 1913 and a member of Millbrooke Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Carpenter Haverkost; two sons, Todd (Leeanne) Haverkost, Memphis, Tenn., and Robert Moss, Lexington; his daughter, Mrs. Walter (Jackie) Logan, Christian County; two brothers, Larry Haverkost, Mendham, N.J., and Vernon Haverkost, Mount Iron, Minn.; his sister, Margie Giorgi, Mount Iron; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Millbrooke Christian Church, 703 Country Club Lane, Hopkinsville, KY 42240 or to E.C. Green Cancer Center, 1717 High St., Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
