Grave marker for Robert L. Hengtgen in Jeffers Cemetery, Jeffers (Cottonwood county), Minnesota.

Robert enlisted in the Army at Fort Snelling, MN on 12 June 1944.

On 6 March 1946, T/4 Hengtgen was in Company E, 508th PIR when he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal.  It is the only known instance of a record for him within the regiment.

Robert either re-enlisted or was called back to duty and served in Korea.  At some time he achieved the grade of Chief Warrant Officer and served in the 766th Intelligence Corps Detachment.
