Grave marker for Robert L. Henry, Jr. in Oakland Cemetery, Waycross (Ware county), Georgia.

Robert enlisted in the army at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, GA on 39 July 1943 [note that National Archives lists month as July while obituary states June.]

On 8 September 1944, Pfc Henry was transferred from the 82nd Airborne Division, Leicester, England to Company G, 508h PIR.

He was wounded in action in Holland on 17 September 1944.

Henry's military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device which was awarded for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations
