Bridge
Car Skid
Kills 3UNION SPRINGS
--- Three members of a Chicago family died near here Thursday when their
car skidded and slammed into a concrete bridge abutment.
State troopers said George W. Hessberger, 45; his wife, Margaret
Hessberger, 40, and their four-year-old son Billy Hessberger apparently
skidded on U.S. Highway 32 some seven miles west of here and crashed
into the bridge abutment. Mrs.. Hessberger and her son were thrown
from the car into the rain-swollen Bughall Creek.
A Highway Patrol response crew dragged Bughall Creek to
recover the body of the four-year-old boy.
Troopers said there were no other occupants in the car and the
Hessberger car was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
Union Springs, the county seat of Bullock County, is some 40 miles
west of Montgomery. [The Montgomery Advertiser,

George and Paula Hessberger, owners of a
charming little German restaurant at 4300 N. Lincoln av., are
enroute to their native Germany where they spend a few months each year.
Among their annuals missions is to place orders in Oberammergau for new
costumes for their waitresses and to replenish unusual and lovely table
linens and table appointments. Handsome new stained glass windows
in the dining room are in memory of the Hessberger's son, George, Jr.,
who had expressed a desire for them before he, his wife, and youngest
child were killed last spring in an automobile accident.
