Grave marker for Herbert W. Hesse in the Saint John Cemetery, Fraser (Macomb), Michigan.

Herbert joined the Army on 19 Oct 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.  He was immediately assigned to the 508r PIR which was just being activated at Camp Blanding, FL.

Pfc Hesse served in the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion and jumped into Nor4mandy on D-Day, 6 June 1944.
