EARL D. HINEBAUGH

Earl Hinebaugh

   Earl Hinebaugh, 60, of 559 W. Exchange St., Apt. 4, died Monday.
   Mr. Hinebaugh was born in Clifton Forge, Va., and had been an area resident the past 25 years.  Mr. Hinebaugh was a well-known, self-employed painter in the Akron area.  He served on both World War II and Korea.
   He is survived by sisters, Pauline Nicely of Madison, Ohio, Louise Stone of Roanoke, Va.; nephew Dr. Alfred Nicely of Akron; and several other nieces and nephews.
   Removal has been made to the Nicely Funeral Home, 405 Allegany, Clifton Forge, Va. (Akron Chapel, Dunn-Quigly & Ciriello, 253-8121)

Grave marker for Earl D. Hinebaugh in Section II, Row 8,  Grave 44, Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery (Alleghany county), Virginia.

Earl enlisted in the Army at Richmond, VA on 29 October 1942 and was assigned to Company E, 508th PIR.

The date of Pvt Hinebaugh's arrival in the 508th is not known as Company E records for 1942 are unavailable. He does show from 1943 onward.

Pfc Hinebaugh was wounded in action in France on 8 June 1944 and evacuated to aw field hospital.  He returned to duty on 5 July 1944.

He was discharged on 7 November 1945 but was recalled to duty during the Korean Conflict.

Cpl Hinebaugh is listed simply as "Injured" in the North Korea Sector Casualties of 1950-1957, Returned to Duty (FECOM), on 26 October 1950 but returned to duty. No explanation as to why or how he came to be on the north side of the front lines has been found.  His injury was also reported in the Daily Press, Newport News, VA, Monday, December 4, 1940, Page 2
