HYLAND G. HINSHAW

Grave marker for Hyland G. Hinshaw in Plot 2E, 2169 of the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno (San Mateo county), California.

Hyland enlisted in the Army at Los Angeles, CA on 15 Oct 1942.

Pvt Hinshaw was transferred to Company H, 508th from the 10th Replacement Depot on 17 October 1944.  Two months later he was with the regiment when it was rushed into combat due to the Battle of The Bulge in the Ardennes offensive.  He was wounded in Belgium on 21 January 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Although not with the 508th at the time, Pfc Hinshaw was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for participation in Normandy beachheads and Airborne operations
