WALTER E. HINSON

Grave marker for Walter E. Hinson in  Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery, Chiltons (Westmoreland county), Virginia.

Walter registered for the draft  ca. 1943 at the mandatory age of 18.

He enlisted in the army at Richmond, VA on 12 November 1943.

Pvt Hinson was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot to Hq 3rd, 508th PIR 10 August 1944.

Pfc Hinson returned to the U.S. on 3 January 1946 aboard the Queen Mary. He was listed as a member of 505th PIR at the time.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations
