Oren Michael Hobren, a retired New Orleans police officer, died Tuesday
at Metropolitan Hospice. He was 79. Mr. Hobren was a lifelong resident
of New Orleans. He was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church. He was an
Army veteran of World War II. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star,
American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and European African
Middle Eastern Service Medal. Survivors include a son, Michael Hobren; a
daughter, Paula H. Isenmann; and three grandchildren. Services will be
private. Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Oren enlisted on 10
October 1941 at the Jacksonville Army Air Field, Jacksonville, FL and volunteered for parachutist duty.
After he completed basic training and jump school her was assigned to
the 507th PIR.
On 16 October 1942 he was
one of many Cadre members who were transferred into the 508th to start
the newly formed regiment. |
