HERBERT E. HOFFMAN

(courtesy of Christine Studer)

Grave marker for Herbert E. Hoffman in Plot: 5, 0, 1152 of the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, (Barnstable), Massachusetts.

Lt Hoffman was an early arrival to the regiment as he was logged in to Company A on 20 Oct 1942, the day that the regiment was activated.  About 18 months later he was shifted to Hq 1st as Battalion Adjutant and later to Company B as a platoon leader.

Herbert jumped into both France and Holland but it was not until 24 December 1944 that he was wounded in action in Belgium.   After recuperation he rejoined the regiment and was ultimately  transferred to 513th PIR on 18 August 1945 as things wound down in Frankfurt.
