Grave marker for William B. Hohwieler in Plot M-SE,
Greenwood Cemetery, Trenton (Mercer county), New Jersey.
William
registered for the draft ca. 1941 and the registration card shows an
interesting current address of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he was
apparently employed as a mechanic in the ship yard and may have been
present on December 7 of that year. However, he did not
enlist in the Army until 15 May 1944 and did so at New Cumberland, PA.
Pvt Hohwieler was transferred from the 505th PIR to Hq
2nd, 508th PIR on 10 March 1945.
His military decorations include the Good Conduct
Medal.
