JOHN F. HOLENCIK

   John F. Holencik, 92, of Edison, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
   Born in Winburne, PA, he lived in Perth Amboy and graduated from Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1941.
   John eventually settled in Edison where he had resided for the past 43 years. Prior to his retirement, he was an Electrical Foreman with Dupont Chemical in Parlin for 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served with the 82nd Airborne during WWII.
   He was an avid golfer for many years. John was predeceased by his siblings, Vera, Ann, Katherine, Helen, Dorothy, and Michael.
   John is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Margot “Margo” Holencik; his daughter, Maria Conlon of Sayreville; his grandchildren, Heather Molnar and her husband, John and Sean Conlon and his wife, Stephanie; and his four great-grandchildren: Hunter, Lauren, Riley and Olivia.
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Flynn and son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863.
   Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fords. Donations in John’s name are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.

Pfc Holencik was transferred to Service Company,  508th PIR from the 82nd Airborne Division Hq on 29 March 1944.  He ws promoted to Pfc on  4 January 1945.

Pfc Holencik re-enlisted in the army on 10 November 1945, probably while still in Frankfurt.

John passed away on 23 February 2026 and is buried in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Perth Amboy (Middlesex county), Nwe Jersey.
