Grave marker for Joseph M. Holloway in Oak Forest Cemetery, Black Rock (Lawrence county), Arkansas.

Joseph registered for the draft in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence, Arkansas.  As a parachutist volunteer he was assigned to Hq 3rd, 508th PIR.

By November 1943 he had risen to Cpl and he was promoted to Sgt on 1 October 1944.

Sgt Holloway was wounded in action on 12 October 1944.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded awarded for participation in the Normandy assault.
