OLIVER M. HOPKINS

Oliver Mason Hopkins, Sr.
12/24/1922-4/28/2011

   Oliver "Bob" Hopkins, 88 years old, passed away after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Louise; his brother, James (Patricia) Hopkins; sister, Polly Ginapro and sister-in-law, Thelma Hopkins; loving children, Oliver M. (Mary Anne) Hopkins, Jr., Barbara Jean (Kenneth Clarke) Ball, Charles Wallace Hopkins and Joann Hopkins.
   Bob loved and was very proud of each and every one of his grandchildren: 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He will forever be a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. We will miss him every day.
   Bob wanted everyone to know how much he loved his wife, Mary Louise and that he was honored to have served with the 101st Airborne Division in WWII.
   We will celebrate his life and share his love for family and friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY starting at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Bob's family requests that donations be made in his name to the Casa de la Luz Hospice Foundation at 400 West Magee Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.

Oliver registered for the draft in Woodbury, NJ on 30 June 1`942 and was inducted into the Army at Camden, NJ on 11 January1944

On 23 October 1945, Pvt Hopkins was transferred from the 101st Airborne Division to Company F,, 508th PIR.

On 19 May 1946 Pfc Hopkins arrived in New York, NY aboard the USAT Victory.  His destination was the Separation Center 25, sat  Fort Dix, NJ.
