Ramon R. Horger Sr., 88, of Las Vegas, passed away July 2, 2010. He was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Canton, Ohio, and was a resident of Las Vegas for over 20 years.
Ramon was a retired steel mill worker and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Ramon was a member of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment Association and the 82nd Airborne Association. He jumped on D-Day and had another combat jump "across the Rhine."
Ramon is survived by his wife, Anna L. Shoemaker-Horger; daughter, Sandra K. (Jim) Humerickhouse of Pasadena, Calif.; son, Ramon R. (Pearl) Horger Jr. of Henderson; daughter Ann E. Adolff of Henderson; stepson, Tony (Cheryl) Shoemaker of Las Vegas; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Keith) Brane of Fairborn, Ohio; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, July 8, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern.
Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Ramon enlisted in the Army
at Akron, OH on 2 November 1942.
His transfer from the
507th PIR to Hq 3rd, 508th PIR is not documented.
He was included, however,
on a roster of names and home addresses for men in Hq 3 in Frankfurt, as
of 9/23/1945.
