William W. Horn

   LINDEN- Services for William Willoughby Horn, 85, of Jefferson, will be 3 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Reeder-Davis-Schndler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Green officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Arrangements are by Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home.
   Mr.. Horn died April 12, 2009, in Jefferson. Mr. Horn was born December 27, 1923, in Pembroke, Kentucky. He was a field construction engineer, an active member of the Assembly of God Church in Bartow, Florida, and served in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during WWII. Survivors include his wife, Martha J. Horn; son, Gregory Horn; and daughters, Shirley Phillips and Sandra Graham. Visitation will be .6-8 p.m. today, April 15, 2009, at the funeral home. Grave marker for William W. Horn in Linden Cemetery, Linden (Cass county), Texas.

William enlisted at Camp Blanding, FL on 4 March 1943.

On 7 August 1943, Pvt Horn was attached to the 2nd Battalion, 508th PIR from Hq 2nd Army Umpire School, Camp Forrest, TN 7 to serve as a Flag Orderly during the Tennessee Maneuvers.

He was relieved from that duty and retur5ned to the Umpire School on 12 November 1943.
