[Note: he may have lost his draft card but the Draft Board found him. He was called up that same month, even before this ad appeared.

Also: "C" and "A" cards refer to classes of rationing cards.

Grave markers for Nicholas Z. Hornacky, Jr. in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Clinton (Vermillion county), Indiana.

Nicholas enlisted in the Army at Indianapolis, IN on 11 January 1943.

His early service career is unknown.  Pvt Hornacky was transferred from the 551st PIR to Company E, 508th PIR on 6 February 1945.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for the Southern France Campaign and Airborne Operations

When Nicolas entered the service ion 1943 he had completed three years of high school.  Discharged in 1945 he went back to high school and completed his fourth year to earn his high school diploma.
   His name appears on the second line, left-and column of this congratulatory article..

Nicholas was somehow chosen to receive a complimentary pair of movie tickets.  All he had to do was go to the theatre and claim them.

NICHOLAS HORNACKY
CLINTON --- Arrangements are pending at Frist Funeral Home for Nicholas Hornacky, 54, 904 N. 7th St., who died Tuesday morning at his residence.  He was a veteran of World War II, a charter member of VFW Post No. 6653 and a member of DAV.  Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Peterson, Clinton, and Mrs. Mary Johnson, Crawfordsville, several nieces and nephews.

CLINTON --- Services for Nicholas Hornacky, 54, 904 N. 7th St., who died Tuesday morning at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Frist Funeral with the Rev. James Shanahan officiating.  Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery with VFW military graveside rtes.  Friends may call.
