Harry Hudec, 1922-2007, Cleveland

Harry Hudec, 85, of Cleveland, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, in Cleveland.

He was born March 16, 1922, in Cleveland. He was married to Dorothy Stephens, who died earlier.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served in the 508th Paratrooper Infantry during the Normandy invasion. He retired from the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co., after 43 years of service. He was an active member of the Solon Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are three children, Roger Hudec, and his wife, Pat, of Boulder City, Nev., Susan Birko, and her husband, Dale, of Chardon, Ohio, and Barbara Russo, and her husband, Frank, of Aurora, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Marian Scott, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Kelley Fulton, Laurie Birko, Frank Russo Jr., Matt Birko, Kristin Russo and Stefanie Barnett; and three great-grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Hudec. Graveside services were April 6 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Solon VFW, 740 Pettibone Road, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023.
