HAROLD A. HUGHES

Harold A. Hughes, 77, of Alamogordo, N.M., died Tuesday in Alamogordo.

Mr. Hughes was a native of Oklahoma City. He lived in Modesto most of his life. He was a pressman for The Modesto Bee for 24 years and later worked for the Stockton Record for 25 years. He was an Army veteran and served with Company H, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He landed in Normandy on D-Day, was later wounded in Holland and received a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Hughes of Alamogordo, N.M.; daughters, Terry Bukowski of Alamogordo and Jill La Vine of Salem, Ore.; brother, Roy Hughes of Oceanside; sister, Dorothy Hembury of Mount Vernon, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held in Modesto. Cremation was under the direction of Hamilton- O'Dell Funeral Home in Alamo/
